Mr. Ismail Shariff is a distinguished industrialist and visionary entrepreneur in India’s bus body manufacturing sector. He began his career as a contractor specializing in bus structure fabrication and gradually expanded into complete bus body construction by developing and training a skilled workforce with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and productivity.
During 2001–02, when the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) faced severe backlogs in accident and heavy body repairs, he established KMS Coach Builders, undertaking repair works within KSRTC premises across Karnataka. His cost-effective approach resulted in substantial savings and faster fleet turnaround for the corporation.
Recognizing his capabilities, State Transport Corporations in Karnataka entrusted him with the construction of new and luxury-class buses, leading to the establishment of a dedicated manufacturing unit, which was later converted into a private limited company in 2007. Subsequently, leading OEMs such as Ashok Leyland and Tata Motors, along with the Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporations, entrusted him with new bus body construction. This resulted in significant expansion of installed capacity through the establishment of I-MAC India Coach Builders Pvt. Ltd. in 2010.
Further advancing his vision, Mr. Shariff is presently implementing a ₹100 crore state-of-the-art bus body manufacturing project at Sira, Karnataka, which is in its final stages and expected to be operational shortly. These initiatives continue to set new benchmarks in India’s public transport manufacturing sector.
